The Future is in the Air – A Hands-on Activity for Children at the Lichtenfels Autumn Market
When Lichtenfels’ town center fills up for the traditional Autumn Market on October 10, 2026, the Archiv der Zukunft (Archive of the Future) will once again be a place for discovery, experimentation, and creativity. Together with the Gehringer woodworking workshop, the Archive invites children and their families to take part in a special hands-on activity.
At the heart of the event are four concepts that may seem quite different at first glance yet fit together beautifully: Future – Wood – Creativity – Air.
Together, we will build kites that capture more than just the wind: they will carry the children’s wishes, ideas, and dreams up into the sky. What do they wish for the world of tomorrow—and what might their future look like? Each custom-designed kite becomes a small, colorful ambassador for a future filled with imagination, hope, and big ideas.
This activity is expressly designed for the whole family. Children, parents, and grandparents are invited to get creative together, try out ideas, and perhaps even learn from one another. After all, who says only adults know what the future might look like?
