Simultaneous Chess Exhibition with FIDE Master Tobias Kolb
On Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 5 p.m., the Archiv der Zukunft (Archive of the Future) in Lichtenfels is hosting a special chess event. FIDE Master Tobias Kolb will compete simultaneously against up to 30 opponents.
In a simultaneous exhibition, a master plays at numerous boards at once. He moves from board to board, making a single move at each, while the participants consider their next moves in the interim. This gives many chess enthusiasts the rare opportunity to test their skills against a truly strong tournament player.
The title of FIDE Master (FM) is awarded by the World Chess Federation (FIDE) and is a stepping stone toward the title of Grandmaster (GM). Kolb is currently working toward the next level: International Master (IM). This title signifies an exceptionally high level of playing ability, and Kolb ranks among the top 100 players in Germany.
The event is open to chess enthusiasts of all ages. Spectators are also warmly welcome to experience the unique atmosphere of a simultaneous exhibition up close.
Registration for active participation is recommended via info@archivderzukunft-lichtenfels.de.
A certain level of playing proficiency is expected.
Admission is free.
