In June 2019, the Archive of the Future opened its showroom, where exhibitions and events shared the stage alongside real-time construction of the museum. Showroom activities provide a mini-preview of the events planned for the Archive of the Future’s opening in 2022.
Coinciding with the Lichtenfels Wine Festival, the opening of the showroom brought together a wide range of interested parties from the curious to the skeptical to those keen on understanding the heightened role technology and architecture will play in the new building at Marktplatz 2. Visitors to the showroom took virtual walks wearing VR glasses through the yet-to-be-built rooms of the Archive of the Future, discovering along the way the invaluable uses of VR for architecture and design. Also available were architecture workshops for children and adults.
